Here are some pictures of my hermit crab, Achilles.

Achilles and his water shell
Achilles standing in the corner after crawling through his water shell. As you can see, he got some sand stuck to his blue shell after getting wet. |
Achilles on his driftwood pillar
I often see him standing (or sitting, it's hard to tell with crabs) on top of his driftwood pillar and looking out the side of the terrarium or else at the postcards I put on two of the sides. |

Achilles vs. Spider-Man
This is a funny picture. Achilles is climbing on the edge of his pool toward the uncovered (as in no postcards) short side of his terrarium. It looks like he's getting ready to fight with the Lego Spider-Man figure I leaned against the outside of the terrarium. |
Achilles the Climber
Achilles climbing up a plastic string I dangled into his terrarium through the vents in the lid.

Achilles in his Play Area
Achilles trying to find a way out of his play area. The play area is actually a clear plastic drawer a few drawers down from Achilles' terrarium. It has a lemonade container lid/measuring cup, two peanut butter lids, and an old sock. I put Achilles in here when I give him his bath or when I'm cleaning his terrarium. |
Achilles the Digger
Achilles is digging under his pool, probably looking for moisture or a way out. This picture didn't come out well due to the lighting in my room and the flash of my camera being turned off at the time that I took it. I had the flash off to prevent the glare that I sometimes get off the plastic sides of the terrarium.

Clean Terrarium
This last picture is one I took after I finished cleaning Achilles' terrarium. The food shell is the smaller shell with the brown stuff (food and maybe some sand). The water shell is below it. The driftwood pillar is in the middle toward the top (of the picture, that is). The pool is in the lower right hand corner. |
